That’s it, the festivities are over: we’ve digested the Yule logs which have already settled on our hips; family and friendly gatherings have been caught on film, ranging from successful “Mannequin Challenge” attempts at best, to burlesque conga videos* at worst, and most importantly, New Year’s resolutions for 2017 have been flowing freely!
There are of course those that we can always try asking Father Christmas for, to add a touch of magic to our daily lives, such as going into the office dressed as a unicorn, or removing the calories from “raclette”**, and then there are others, that are equally important and that we would like to see become a reality in the office. Yes indeed, the place where we spend more than ¾ of our waking hours every week (or almost) necessarily matters.
Especially in the world of marketing, with our Top 3:
Resolution #1 – Coming in relaxed mode: not necessarily in a Hawaiian shirt and flip-flops (or fur-lined boots, depending on the season), but in a sort of “work less but better” mode.
It would certainly be possible if, just for once, in one click you could access that ubiquitous latest strategy document validated by everyone, you know, the one entitled Doc_strat_V7_DEF2_OK (although it’s entirely possible that a version 0KDefBis is in circulation too…)
Resolution #2 – Coming in agile mode: in other words, thinking about real market issues, such as “how to draw our customers in dressed as unicorns?” What with scoping meetings, numerous team briefings, and countless updates with service providers, we no longer have time to invent the world of tomorrow and adapt to our clients’ requirements. It should hardly come as a surprise if we miss the invention of the UberUnicorn.
Resolution #3 – Coming in visionary geek mode: for example, all wearing augmented reality headsets, to obtain 360° vision and keep an eye on any troll who might appear over the horizon to try to steal our ideas.
Be a little more agile somehow! This might sound utopian, but sometimes there’s only a short step between dreams and reality! We believe that in the hyper-complex world of marketing, it should be possible to keep these resolutions … at least until December 2017! And we’ll prove it to you next week!
