THE PRODUCT:
PREFECT is a carefully balanced blend
of carboxylic acids on an activated verxite
base. The acids are added to this unique
carrier matrix and are partially buffered to
prevent intake problems, they are then
combined with a FOS source.
PREFECT incorporates organic acids
known to display anticlostridial activity.
Incorporated in the feed PREFECT will
reduce the pH of the intestinal tract. This
is achieved by providing an acid mineral
substrate and specific nutrient source to
assist the naturally occurring lactic acid
bacteria to outgrow potential pathogens.
The growth of these acid producing
commensal bacteria is responsible for the
acidification of the gut and provides a
suitable environment to allow a full
healthy gut microflora to establish.
Secondary metabolites produced by
these lactic acid bacteria have strong
antibacterial and virucidal properties and
therefore offer greater in-gut responses
than acids alone.
PREFECT should be used either from the
first day of life or post antibiotic therapy.
The result will be a healthy and self
sustaining gut microflora that is capable
of resisting attack from potential
enteropathogens, originating from feed,
water, the environment or farm staff.
