THE PRODUCT:
BACT-A-START is a blend of organic and
inorganic acids formulated to rapidly
acidify the stomach and fore gut , but with
a carrier technology to carry and release
buffered acids throughout the intestine.
When the young piglet is weaned the diet
changes from milk to a cereal based
ration. In the immature gut of the weaner
pig hydrochloric acid is under produced,
particularly in early weaned litters.
Digestive enzymes also require a low pH
to have optimum activity and in the
immature gut the result is often poor
protein digestion and assimilation as well
as a hind gut fermentation, resulting in
piglet scours.
BACT-A-START not only supplements
the stomach acids but acts as an acidity
regulator ensuring the remainder of the
digestive tract has a low enough pH to
provide optimal conditions for commensal
bacteria to flourish, and discourage the
growth of enteropathogens.
